Jayshri Van ("the app", "we", "us") is a tree-plantation app operated by Jayshri Foundation. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and your choices. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address and profile photo, obtained when you sign in with Google.
- Location — your device's GPS coordinates, used only when you add a plant, post a growth update, or view plantings/drives near you. Coordinates are attached to the plants you record and stamped onto the photo you capture.
- Photos — the plant photos you capture or upload (close-up and surroundings) and any certificates you upload.
- Usage data — basic technical information needed to operate the service.
How we use your information
- To record and display the trees you plant, their location and growth history.
- To verify that an uploaded photo shows a plant and to identify plant species (via Plant.id).
- To keep photos free of inappropriate content (via Google Cloud Vision).
- To show plantation statistics and drives near your area.
- To translate species information into your chosen language (via Google Cloud Translation).
- To manage organisations, plantation drives and green credits.
Third-party services
We use these processors to run the app. Your data is shared with them only to provide the features above:
- Google Firebase — authentication, image storage, hosting.
- Google Cloud — Vision (photo moderation) and Translation.
- Plant.id — plant photo verification and species identification.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — converting coordinates to a place name.
- MongoDB Atlas — our application database.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Publicly-listed plantings show the species, location and grower's name; a plant's custom name is private to its planter, owner and caretaker. You control whether a plant is public or private.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices
- Location and camera access are requested only when needed; you can decline or revoke them in your device settings (some features will then be unavailable).
- You can request account and data deletion by contacting us.
